Jack Macfarlane
Jack Macfarlane
Jack joined HLG in November 2022 having taken an unorthodox route to the company. After completing his degree in Chemical and Process engineering at the University of Strathclyde he took the opportunity to play rugby professionally which brought him to Jersey to play with the Reds. Following a successful 6 years playing rugby Jack has made the transition to the next stage of his career which will allow him to use the skills and knowledge he built at Strathclyde, alongside the transferable skills he has developed whilst operating in the high-performance environment of professional sport. It is this mixture which Jack is looking forward to bringing to HLG and our clients.
Jack’s academic background, which had a strong bias towards environmental engineering, fits well with his role in supporting and developing our Environment and Sustainability services, a sector in which we continue to see significant growth. The complex analytical nature of his degree combined with his excellent communication skills will allow him to work closely with clients in understanding their needs and ensuring their requirements are delivered.
Outside of work Jack’s free time is unsurprisingly spent playing a variety of sports and maintaining his lifelong association with rugby as an amateur with Jersey Rugby Club 1st XV and coach of the local Jersey Royals Rugby Club. He also manages to squeeze in some time for golf, tennis and just about any other sport and outdoor activity his time allows him to, taking full advantage of the tropical climate and warm seas Jersey possess especially in comparison to his home on the west coast of Scotland.
